Anthony Edwards’ Adidas AE 1 ‘Georgia Red’ Sneaker From His Viral Dunk Will Release in April

Anthony Edwards’ first signature sneaker has released in several colorways tied to background or career, but none have been tied to a specific on-court moment until now.

The young superstar wore his Adidas AE 1 in a new “Georgia Red” colorway for the first time Monday night in his dunk over John Collins. Many have christened it as “Dunk of the Year,” and it could very well be the most impressive highlight yet of Edwards’ career. Naturally, such a relationship between shoe and feat has all the makings for an instant classic. And because Edwards dunked so violently that he dislocated one of his own fingers, “Dislocated Finger” would make for a fine unofficial nickname.

Boasting a two-tone look of peachy-reds, the “Georgia Red” AE 1 is a nod to Edwards’ home state. The lighter of the two colors forms the shoe’s TPU wings, toe and sole unit, while a darker shade is used for the Primeknit base and carbon fiber heel panel. Black is then used for the laces and branding for a slight deviation from the tonal look.

The AE 1 has been an instant hit for Adidas, as the shoe sold out in its first few colorways and has been widely acclaimed. Its sister shoe of sorts, the Adidas Harden Vol. 8, shares an approach in its approach to both tech and color-blocking and has also been subject to more praise than any other contemporary basketball shoe in some time. “Georgia Red” will mark the sixth version of the AE 1 to release since the model made its debut in December.

The Adidas AE 1 “Georgia Red” will release April 4 exclusively through Adidas and Foot Locker. Pricing is set at $120.
