Another Day, Another Peek Inside a Brilliant Lowcountry Beach House...

By homes editor Ellen McGauley

Yesterday's post gave you a look at the first house on our Sullivan's Island House Tour, held the first weekend in May just outside of Charleston, South Carolina. Today, we're bringing you the second house we visited, which was just as warm and inviting as the first.

This one is owned by a talented local artist and her surfer husband, both of whom live here full-time (full-time beach living? They've got the right idea...). The home is just a block or two from the sand. Here's a look inside:

Cortney Bishop is the interior designer (and fellow Sullivan's Island resident) who worked with the owners to turn this spec home into an ultra-personalized haven that reflects its owners to a tee.

In the entry, large-format photography hangs adjacent to two pieces by owner and Lowcountry artist Lynne Hamontree. Her work hangs throughout the home, ranging from serene landscapes to intriguing abstracts.

That's her painting hanging above the fireplace. Cortney found the pair of McGuire chairs early on in the design of the living room, and curated the rest of the furnishings around those.

Here's a neat idea: Hanging above the dining room are old framed album covers by artists like Jimmy Buffet and Moody Blues—longtime favorites of the owners.

Cortney turned a former breakfast room off the kitchen into a library, adding bookshelves and a coat of blue high-gloss paint.

An L-shaped screened porch steps off the living room and library. Check out the chic hammock!

Our favorite thing about the master bedroom is how masterfully it mixes varied shades of blue.

Perhaps one of the most stunning rooms in the house is the owners third-floor artist's studio...

Cortney had one of the owner's surfboards mounted in the entry—a towering tribute to his favorite pastime.

We ended the tour out in the garden, with no shortage of salt breezes.

We'll bring you house #3 on the blog tomorrow! Here's a teaser:
