Annual Socastee Heritage Festival sets vendor record, draws hundreds for springtime fun

SOCASTEE, S.C. (WBTW)– The annual Socastee Heritage Festival hit a milestone this year, with 250 vendors turning out for the event that drew hundreds into the area.

With everything for sale on Saturday — from food and jewelry to clothing — the festival also featured live music, a car show and even back massages.

A portion of Dick Pond Road by the Socastee Swing Bridge was shut down for much of the day as hundreds came out to enjoy the free, family-friendly celebration.

“It’s really great, there’s a lot of people out here,” said Garrett Rife, who ran “Deez Buttz” barbecue food truck with his cousin Nathan Ludeman. “Really nice weather, and a lot of stuff to go visit.”

Calvin Watters came out to the festival for the fifth time.

“You have a variety of people, a variety of things here,” he said. “Our main job is to tell people about Jesus Christ, and that’s our job, but everything is coming together as a family, and it’s been really great.”

Also enjoying the event, Calvin Watters has been attending the Heritage Festival for five years now.
