Anne Rice's Mayfair Witches is the latest installment in AMC's Anne Rice Immortal Universe.

The series comes on the heels of Anne Rice's Interview With the Vampire being renewed for a second season after fans and critics alike adored the first installment.

Alexandra Daddario stars in the AMC show as Rowan, a San Francisco-based doctor who heads to New Orleans to uncover the truth about her past after she begins to have strange experiences and deadly powers she doesn't know how to control.

The show will follow Rowan's journey, as well as those of the other Mayfair women who've come before her.

When asked about playing a witch, Daddario joked to Entertainment Weekly that she "has the complexion for it."

Anne Rice's Mayfair Witches is based on the book trilogy The Lives of the Mayfair Witches by Anne Rice. The books follow the Mayfair family through hundreds of years and several generations of their interactions with Lasher.

Executive producer Esta Spalding says that Season 1 of Anne Rice's Mayfair Witches will cover the first book of The Lives of the Mayfair Witches trilogy, The Witching Hour, released in 1990. The Witching Hour chronicles Rowan's discovery that she is in a family of witches and how she comes into her own power.
