Anne Heche has officially been laid to rest.

The Six Days Seven Nights actress passed away in August of last year at the age of 53. Now, nine months later, her family was finally able to transport her to her final resting place at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery in Los Angeles, California, on Sunday, May 14.

"Both sons [Homer Laffoon and Atlas Tupper] were present [for the ceremony,]" which coincided with Mother's Day, a representative for Los Angeles's Hollywood Forever Cemetery told PeopleThe rep also noted that the ceremony was "small, private, and lovely."

"We are convinced our Mom would love the site we have chosen for her; it's beautiful, serene and she will be among her Hollywood peers," Heche's son, Homer, previously told the outlet.

He continued: "Hollywood Forever is a living place, where people attend movies and concerts and other events. She was our Mom, but the kindness and the outpouring of the past few days reminded us that she also belongs to her fans, to the entertainment community, and now, to the ages."

The actress was reportedly cremated and now her ashes lay in the Cathedral Mausoleum, surrounded by several Hollywood legends, including Chris Cornell and Johnny Ramone.

Heche passed away a few days after she sustained significant injuries from a fiery car accident on August 5. According to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner's office, the actress' cause of death was "inhalation and thermal injuries," the report also listed "sternal fracture due to blunt trauma" as another major factor.

As a result, her death was ruled an accident, with the official death date recorded as August 11, when it was determined she had no brain function. However, she was not removed from life support until August 14, after several days in a coma undergoing procedures that allowed her to make life-saving organ donations.

In a statement that Heche's family shared at the time of her death, she was described as "a bright light, a kind and most joyful soul, a loving mother and a loyal friend."

"Anne will be deeply missed, but she lives on through her beautiful sons, her iconic body of work and her passionate advocacy," it continued. "Her bravery for always standing in her truth, spreading her message of love and acceptance, will continue to have a lasting impact."
