Anna Kendrick would like everyone to relax about her calling Twilight filming “miserable”

We’re not sure if you’ve noticed, but the Twilight franchise is going through a bit of a renaissance. Perhaps it’s because author Stephanie Meyer announced that her new Twilight book, Midnight Sun, will finally be released this summer. Or maybe it’s because the nostalgia has finally set in after the first Twilight film was released in theaters more than a decade ago. Whatever it is, 2020 has been riddled with Twilight regalia, and poor Anna Kendrick got caught up in it in a bad way.

Kendrick played Bella’s (Kristen Stewart) friend Jessica in the series, and in a June 10th interview with Vanity Fair, she recalls filming Twilight in the “miserable” weather of Portland, Oregon. But sadly, the term “miserable” was almost immediately taken out of context.

“I just remember my Converse being completely soaked through and feeling like, ‘You know, this is a really great group of people and I’m sure that we would be friends at a different time, but I want to murder everyone,'” Kendrick joked after remembering the wet weather as “cold and miserable.”

Kendrick immediately noted that, even so, the experience “was also kind of bonding.”

“There was something about it that was like, you go through some trauma event…and you’re kind of bonded for life,” she continued, jokingly comparing the experience to going through a “hostage situation.”

The cast got better acquainted once the filming for Twilight: New Moon rolled around. But, the internet got stuck on the whole “miserable” and “hostage situation” thing, as the internet is wont to do.

Many began comparing Kendrick’s apparent dislike of her involvement in the Twilight franchise to the array of Robert Pattinson interviews in which he pretty much trashes the series (but, in a hilarious way).

The tweets became so loud that Kendrick had to step in to shut things down.

“Oh. I thought we stopped doing this ‘actress makes a dumb joke about the cold weather but we turn it into clickbait anyway’ shit in like 2014,” she tweeted on June 10th. “U okay hun?”

Once people started actually watching the interview, realization sunk in that they had chomped down too quickly on her words.

Leave Anna Kendrick alone!
