The story of Charlie And the Chocolate Factory has been told (and re-told) on big screens for what seems like FOREVER, but it’s never had its own TV series—until now.

Taika Waititi just closed a deal to write, direct, and executive produce an animated series for Netflix based on the classic story, the streaming service announced this week. But that’s not the only Charlie and the Chocolate Factory-based series he’s working on: Netflix also shared that Taika, who recently won an Oscar for best adapted screenplay for the film Jojo Rabbit, is also working on an animated series based on Oompa-Loompas, those candy-loving people (?) who worked in Willy Wonka’s factory and were always ready to burst into song.

Netflix confirmed that the first project will follow the plot of the classic tale, while the second is a “wholly original take” on the Oompa-Loompas. But don’t expect something totally out of left field here: Netflix says both the shows will “retain the quintessential spirit and tone of the original story while building out the world and characters far beyond the pages of the [Roald] Dahl book for the very first time.”

Just think of the viewing experience possibilities here: You and your family curled up with a cup of hot cocoa while watching a show dedicated to chocolate, you and your family noshing on chocolate bars while watching... . Basically, just insert chocolate, and you've got a guaranteed good time.

Apparently you can expect even more Roald Dahl coming to your Netflix queue in the future. Netflix and The Roald Dahl Story Company, plan to work together to reimagine other popular Dahl stories like Matilda, The BFG, and The Twits. Sign. Us. Up.
