Animal Crossing Fans Are Losing It Over Adorable Lego Collection

Animal Crossing Lego minifigs

Back when Lego released Super Mario Bros. sets, it decimated our wallets. Since then, the partnership between Lego and Nintendo has grown, with significant additions to the Super Mario Bros. Lego line including Princess Peach, Donkey Kong, and so much more. Now, Lego is going back for a second serving of our hard-earned cash, this time with an Animal Crossing set.

Nintendo of America announced the new crossover on Twitter, with a short trailer showing off some of the minifigs set to make an appearance. We see the classics, like Tom Nook, Isabelle, and Kapp’n, all in their New Horizons gear, as well as a few villagers, some popular, and some a little bit more obscure.

We also see a balloon tied to a gift, iconic imagery from the games as gifts are often seen in the Animal Crossing series floating on by attached to balloons. Players will typically shoot down these balloons with a slingshot, and help themselves to the goodies within.

So far, that’s all we know about the Lego Animal Crossing set, but it has potential to be absolutely devastating to our hard-earned bells. Animal Crossing: New Horizons has over 400 villagers, and if there’s to be a minifig for every villager… well, let’s put it this way: who needs a house when you can have 413 minifigs instead? Fans are pretty excited, though similarly scared of their bank balances, with thousands of replies lamenting how much money they’re going to drop on the Lego.

Realistically, we probably won’t get all 400 villagers as minifigs. It’s likely we’ll get a dozen or so key villagers and NPCs, and maybe a few more down the line depending on how well the sets are received. We should also expect to see some kind of actual building set, like Isabelle’s Town Hall or Nook’s Cranny, which should look great on a shelf, especially if they’re anything like Lego’s other building sets.

There’s no word on when the new sets will arrive, or what will be included, but we’ll certainly be refreshing the Lego store page until we know.
