Zahara Jolie-Pitt just crossed a significant experience off her college bucket list.

As of Wednesday, the 18-year-old Spelman College student is officially a member of the HBCU’s Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority. She joined the Mu Pi chapter of the first historically Black sorority, and in a new video shared by Essence, the young woman enthusiastically introduced herself to her new sisters.

“My name is Zahara Marley Jolie,” she shouted, shaking out her mane of curls. Urged on by cheers from the crowd, Zahara continued, “[I] landed all the way from the Golden State in the city full of angels: Los Angeles, California.” She finished performing her ceremonial introduction before running back in line with the rest of her sisters waiting to be inducted into Alpha Kappa Alpha.

Fans absolutely loved the footage of Angelina Jolie’s eldest daughter embracing the college milestone and connecting with her culture in such a joyous way. One person commented, “Not Greek, but I swear Angelina Jolie is one of the only celebrity white parents of adopted children who made the extra effort to connect her children to their roots!! Congratulations to this baby!!!”

Another expressed the same sentiment, writing, “S/o to the white parents who ensure their black children get to have cultured experiences. Angelina has always been a humanitarian so it only makes sense that her children continue in service ❤️ love this.”

Others marveled at the trajectory of Jolie-Pitt’s life, with one fan sharing, “I don’t even know her full story but going from being an orphan to having thousands of sisters globally is such a powerful and emotional testimony. Congratulations ♥️.”

Another well-wisher emotionally wrote, “When babygirl shook that Afro I felt the ancestors cheer. Welcome home baby. Welcome home.”

One person even pointed out a major distinction the college student made when announcing her name. “She said her name is Zahara Marley JOLIE,” the Instagram user wrote, highlighting the fact that the young woman, whose surname is legally “Jolie-Pitt,” chose not to claim her father Brad Pitt’s moniker. Though the Fight Club star was recently reported to be on good terms with all of his kids excluding Maddox Jolie-Pitt, 22, Zahara’s distinction suggests otherwise.

Jolie and Pitt, who divorced after an alleged domestic violence altercation, share sons Pax, 19 and Knox, 15, as well as daughters Shiloh, 17, and Vivienne, 15, in addition to Maddox and Zahara.
