Angelina Jolie Has the Nicest Things to Say About Queen Elizabeth

You might not think that Angelina Jolie and Queen Elizabeth have a lot in common, but that's not the case. The actress and philanthropist actually shares several interests with Britain's monarch, including environmental conservation.

In an interview for ITV's new documentary, The Queen's Green Planet, the actress spoke about her and the queen's shared passion and the recent trip she took to Namibia with her six kids to highlight forest conservation in Africa.

"For us to come here and say to the children, ‘This is why it’s important to plant a tree,’ that’s the biggest message I can teach my kids, and it’s something that they’ve certainly learned from Her Majesty and her message,” Jolie said.

While on their trip, Jolie says that her kids wondered why planting trees in Africa was important to Queen Elizabeth. "What it comes down to is you say to the kids, ‘You know really, you don’t know her, you can’t understand all that it means to be a queen and all that," she said.

"But you try to say, ‘You know she’s just this really lovely lady who really cares about people around the world, and she really cares about the future, and she wants your grandkids and her grandkids to be able to be running around, enjoying nature and other cultures, and the importance of other cultures.’”

“She thinks that really matters and I agree with her.”

The documentary will highlight not only Jolie's efforts in Namibia but the Queen's own environmental project, The Queen's Canopy, as well. During the TV special, Queen Elizabeth will chat with veteran broadcaster Sir David Attenborough in a one-on-one interview about her organization, which aims unite all 53 countries in the Commonwealth in conservation efforts to safeguard forests.

The Queen's Green Planet airs in the U.K. on Sunday, April 16.
