Handbag trends come and go, but a classic style lasts forever. The past year has seen celebrities fall for mini-bags, logomania purses, and even multi-pouch utility bags, but not every star is in search of the latest trend. For Angelina Jolie, the best bag is the one that is already in her closet. Spotted shopping in Los Angeles yesterday with twins, Vivienne and Knox, Jolie went monochromatic in a black overcoat, cropped trousers, and shades—but it was her bag that stole the show. The actor-director pulled out an old favorite from Phoebe Philo’s tenure at Celine, the Clasp bag. The piece first made its debut during the brand’s spring 2017 show, and Jolie has been wearing it nonstop ever since.

In the decade she spent at the helm of Celine, Philo created several It bags, but Jolie’s go-to is among the most understated purses ever shown on the brand’s runway. Unfussy and elegant, the style appears to have struck a particular chord with the actor, who owns both the black and white versions. When Jolie finds a piece that works for her, it stays in rotation—so expect to see her rocking her now-signature bag for many years to come.
