Angelina Jolie can do it all. She makes iconic movies, has worked with the United Nations on founding a National Center for Refugee and Immigrant Children, and at the same time, is a style icon. Just last year, Jolie announced her clothing line, Atelier Jolie, in collaboration with luxury brand Chloé. And last night in New York, the actor delivered a look we can't stop thinking about. Aside from her sleek quiet luxury outfit, she debuted a nail trend we’re predicting will be everywhere this spring: Introducing cloud nails, courtesy of Jolie.

While attending the opening night of the Broadway musical The Outsiders on April 11 in New York City, Jolie was the epitome of quiet luxury, down to her nails. The multi-hyphenate dressed in a midi-length brown Saint Laurent cape layered over her taupe dress. Her two-toned earrings added a pop of shine. She matched her minimalist outfit with a soft but luxe beauty look. She opted for a bold red lip, soft champagne eyeshadow, and a perfect, no-line out-of-place cat eye liner. Our favorite part? Her milky white cloud nails.

The Manicure

Jolie's manicurist, Elle Gerstein, revealed the inspiration behind the manicure, as well as how she achieved Jolie’s almost skin-like nails. A “clean and classic red carpet look” was Gerstein’s goal and she pulled from PLA’s Fashionably Light gel nail polish collection which consists of subtle neutral tones.

Her manicure is the perfect unexpected yet simple shade of tan that’s elevated beyond your average neutral. The shade is a barely-there nude with white undertones to create a cloud-like effect. Speaking of, Gerstein used the brand’s Cloud and Clear polish ($13) to create the look, layering on a base coat before applying the polish and finishing it off with a glossy top coat. The result? A shiny white-nude nail that's perfect for the manicure minimalist.

How To Get The Look

  • Prep your nails by shaping them to your desired length and shape.

  • Start with your favorite clear base coat to avoid potential chipping or smudging; Gerstein used the PLA Base Coat ($11) and cured it.

  • Then, swipe on your polish to your desired opacity. Jolie’s artist used PLA’s sheer tan Cloud and Clear polish.

  • After drying, Gerstein finished the look with PLA’s Non-Wipe Top Coat ($12) and cured the final coat.
