Red carpet fashion fans, rejoice! Possibly the greatest night of awards show fashion of the year is here, and the stars are out in full regalia to show us how it's done. And it should come as absolutely no surprise that among the glittering gowns and eye-catching suits, Angela Bassett remained, as ever, a sartorial standout.

The actress hit the red carpet this evening looking like royalty, in a sculptural purple Moschino gown and a Bulgari serpenti necklace. She also carried a Judith Lieber black circular handbag. Her stylist, Jennifer Austin, wrote on Instagram, "Here comes the Queen Mother... in the color of ROYALTY!!"

The regal look is fitting as tonight, Bassett is nominated for Best Supporting Actress for her role as the regal Queen Ramonda in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever—the first acting nomination ever for the blockbuster Marvel Cinematic Universe. The occasion marks her second Oscar nomination, the first being a Best Actress nod for her portrayal of Tina Turner in the 1993 biopic What's Love Got to Do With It, which some film buffs still consider a major snub in the history of the Academy Awards.

"Of course, in the moment you're hoping and praying and wishing," Bassett said in a CBS interview. "But I never walk away thinking, 'I've been robbed.' That's too negative of an emotion to carry with me for the rest of my life. I choose to believe there was a reason why it didn't happen."
