Angela Bassett has turned the 95th annual Academy Awards into a family affair.

Tonight, the 64-year-old actress attended the 2023 Oscar Awards at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles. (She’s nominated for Best Supporting Actress.) Bassett brought her family with her—this included her husband, Courtney B. Vance, and her two children, Bronwyn (17) and Slater (17).

When they arrived, the foursome walked the red champagne carpet as a family. It didn’t take long for fans to notice the coordination between Bassett and her teenage daughter, who looks like a miniature version of her mother.

The duo both wore matching purple ensembles. Bronwyn sported a one-shoulder gown, while her mom rocked a coordinating strapless dress.

We’re not too surprised that Bassett brought her family to the 2023 Oscar Awards because she was nominated for Best Supporting Actress for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. While Jamie Lee Curtis (Everything Everywhere All at Once) won the award, other nominees included Kerry Condon (The Banshees of Inisherin), Stephanie Hsu (Everything Everywhere All at Once) and Hong Chau (The Whale). Last year’s award went to Ariana DeBose for West Side Story.

Although Bassett did not take home the award tonight, she is the first Marvel actor to receive an Academy Award nomination, but she’s also the first actress to be nominated for a comic book role.
