Angela Bassett did the thing once again at the 2024 Golden Globes. And by "thing," we mean slayed the red carpet.

On Sunday, Jan. 7, the Black Panther actress hit the red carpet at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, Calif. for the 81st Golden Globe Awards. And, in typical Bassett fashion, the 65-year-old actress dropped jaws by donning a striking black velvet gown.

Fans couldn't get enough of the awards show ensemble, with one fan noting on X (formerly Twitter), "i'm thankful every day that i was born at the same time that angela bassett is parading around in a dress as the most beautiful woman in the world."

Another chimed in with glowing praise, writing online, "Angela Bassett definitely did the thing."

A third weighed in, "Angela Bassett with the breath taking look at the #GoldenGlobes."

Though Bassett wasn't a nominee heading into the annual Hollywood event, her presence was expected, as the 9-1-1 star was named a presenter days before the presentation.

Specifically, in addition to Bassett, Amanda Seyfried, Gabriel Macht, George Lopez, Julia Garner, Justin Hartley, Michelle Yeoh, Patrick J. Adams, Will Ferrell, America Ferrera, Daniel Kaluuya, Florence Pugh, Hailee Steinfeld, Issa Rae, Oprah Winfrey, Shameik Moore, and Simu Liu were all named presenters in the days leading up to the 2024 Golden Globes.

Of course, Bassett isn't a stranger to the Golden Globes, as she took home the Best Supporting Actress – Motion Picture prize during last year's ceremony. Having won for her performance in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Bassett made sure to pay tribute to late co-star Chadwick Boseman in her acceptance speech.

“We loved and we healed and we were surrounded each and every day by the light and the spirit of Chadwick Boseman," she said at the time, "and we have joy in knowing that with this historic Black Panther series, it is part of his legacy that he helped to lead us to."
