When you hear the name Angel Reese, what comes to mind first? Maybe it’s her iconic Vogue shoot or her impeccable skills on the basketball court. Or, perhaps it's her great street style, or that she’s a 7th-round WNBA pick as of yesterday (!). For us, what comes to mind is her great taste in manicures. (The videos of Reese making three-pointers with fresh French tips deserve an award in itself.) Yesterday at the WNBA Draft, Reese debuted punk coquette nails that put an edgy spin on the trending "girlhood"aesthetic.

ICYMI: The girlhood and coquette aesthetics are defined by lots of pink, bows, and sentimental videos on TikTok that encapsulate the spirit of growing up as a girl. While the aesthetic has since slowed down in popularity, lovers of the trend will note how it adds a touch of sweetness to any ensemble. Reese’s manicure shared this attitude but had an elevated twist. Let’s break down her look.

The work of artist Angie Aguirre (who also does the nails of Janelle Monae and Sha’Carri Richardson), Reese’s nails featured a short oval shape that was painted with a glossy French manicure and a black tip. The cherry on top? The center of each nail was embellished with a 3D black bow. Aguire showed a close-up of the manicure in a video posted on Instagram last night that illustrated the nail’s sweet design.

The rest of her outfit also had an edgy, cool-girl vibe. Reese was styled by Naomi Elizée, who dressed the basketball superstar in a hooded gown from Bronx and Banco that looked as though Reese was dripping in molten silver. The chainmail-esque gown had flecks of shiny grey and black sparkle which matched her metallic heels (and silver grill!). She paired it with a silver metallic clutch and a silver bracelet on both arms.

For makeup, Reese opted for a glowy complexion with pops of coral-pink blush on the apples of her cheek and tiny bits of highlight on her brow bone and nose. She had wispy lashes and an ultra glossy lip, and she wore her glossy black hair long, peeking out of the hood of the dress.

We’ll be rooting for Reese (and her iconic nails) from the sidelines during the next WNBA season.
