The Andy Griffith Show Actor Jim Nabors’ Beachfront Honolulu Home Is on the Market

On the small screen, Jim Nabors may have lived a perfect Mayberry life. But in reality, the late actor hung his hat in a different kind of paradise.

Nabors, who famously portrayed small-town gas station attendant Gomer Pyle on The Andy Griffith Show, lived out his golden years in a spectacular oceanfront estate in Hawaii—far from the small-town splendor of his character’s fictional North Carolina town.

Nabors’ five-bedroom, 5,877-square-foot home is now on the market for nearly $14,888,000 with Hawaii Life.

Set on a prized piece of land (just two doors down from Doris Duke’s iconic Hawaii home) with a whopping 170 feet of oceanfront, the plantation-style mansion is designed to take full advantage of its assets. Floor-to-ceiling windows frame perfect tropical views from nearly every room in the home, while breezy lanais and a spacious pool and bar area provide plenty of room for alfresco lounging.

Inside, the home exudes an Old Hawaii ambiance, with a light, airy palette, dark wood accents, and elegant touches.

While Nabors purchased the beachfront gem in 1992 and resided there until the end of his life, he was first lured to Hawaii from the mainland in the ‘70s, according to an interview the actor did with American Profile in 2008. And it’s here, surrounded by swaying palms and crystal blue seas, where he really found his stride—even, for a 25-year stretch, owning and operating a 500-acre macadamia nut and flower farm on the neighboring island of Maui.

“Hawaii is very Eden-esque,” he said in 2008. “I really appreciate it more every day.”
