Andy Cohen Has a Funny Insight on ‘The Man With The Yellow Hat’ from Curious George & We’ve Never Noticed That Before

It’s winter break, and Andy Cohen has been doing a lot of reading with his kids Ben, 4, and Lucy, 1. During this reading, he’s gotten a little … curious about something — and his theory is making us laugh.

“You know what I realized this morning? Something that, I’m probably the last one to the table. There’s probably a whole minefield online I’ll find out about later regarding this topic,” he says on his Instagram story Friday morning.

“I’ve been reading a lot of ‘Curious George’ over the last few days,” he says, while holding up Curious George Goes to the Beach by Margaret and H.A. Rey. “The Man With The Yellow Hat — so, he’s gay, right?”

Sorry, I should have warned you not to sip coffee because I almost spit mine out when he said that. Talking about The Man With The Yellow Hat’s sexuality is not how I was expecting the conversation to go, but I’m loving it!

Cohen continues in the video, “Like, he’s gay.” His camera zooms in on the picture that shows The Man dressed in a one-piece, yellow-and-white striped swimsuit that covers his chest, with a matching yellow hat. In one hand he holds a basket and the other he holds George’s hand as they walk to the beach. “And you know what?” Cohen adds. “He can get it!” Hmm, now that you mention it…

“And like, he just is a single guy, he brings a basket to the pool, and he also wears a yellow hat everywhere,” Cohen says, hammering his point down. “I mean, I don’t know a lot of gay guys who wear a yellow hat everywhere … but he can get it. Did I mention that? I’d like to date The Man With The Yellow Hat.”

The Bravo TV host kinda has a point! Can you imagine a straight guy being put together enough to dress that fashionably, adopt a pet monkey, and pack a basket to go to the beach? I didn’t think so.

It’s impossible to know if the Reys intended The Man With The Yellow Hat to be gay or not, but one thing’s for sure: he’s definitely a catch. In the “Daniel Tiger Conspiracy” subreddit (something else we need to check out later!), someone posted about The Man writing, “I could really go for a tall man with a doctorate degree, a condo in the city, a vacation home in the country, and a lovable pet monkey.” Too true!

Cohen hasn’t revealed if he’s shared his gay theory with his son Ben yet, but they did have an interesting conversation about “misfits” recently. He shared a video to Instagram earlier this week watching Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer with Ben.

Ben asks his dad what a misfit is, and Cohen responds, “A misfit means a little bit out of … just … a misfit means that you march by your own drummer. Do you understand that?”

He then references Ben’s feet, which have purple scribbles all over them. “You drew all over your foot with a magic marker, huh? Oh Ben, you’re a little bit of a misfit my man.”

“It just means you do your own thing, that’s what a misfit means. And that’s OK!” he adds.

We’re here for Cohen’s amazing explanations and theories!
