Andy Cohen

Andy Cohen walked back the remarks he made in March that only fueled conspiracy theories surrounding the health and whereabouts of Kate Middleton in a sympathetic statement aimed at the princess.

At the time, the media personality took to X (formerly Twitter) to publicly react to footage of the Prince and Princess of Wales shopping at a market near their home.

"That ain’t Kate…." the 55-year-old simply wrote, suggesting the person in the video was a stand-in and not actually the royal.

Shortly after Cohen shared his brazen statement, social media users doubled down on their belief in the conspiracy theory that's been dubbed #KateGate, sharing what they believe to be evidence that the princess was "missing" and, of course, memes that mocked the ever-escalating situation.

Fast forward to Monday, April 1, the Bravolebrity addressed the controversial comments he shared on social media in his first Radio Andy SiriusXM show since the princess went public with her shocking health announcement.

He told his listeners, “I just want to say, I am heartbroken by the news about Princess Kate,” adding “I think someone on Sky News called me a ‘numpty’ during that whole conversation and they were right.” He then admitted, “I wish I had kept my mouth shut,” before noting, “We are all praying for Princess Kate and King Charles.”

Earlier this month, Kate shared the news of her cancer with the world in a personal video message, noting that the shocking diagnosis was made after undergoing abdominal surgery in January.

The 42-year-old royal went on, asking for privacy for herself and her family as she undergoes treatment. All the while, King Charles is also undergoing treatment for an unspecified type of cancer.

The 75-year-old monarch made his return to the public eye during the Easter Sunday church service at St. George's Chapel at Windsor Castle. Kate, however, skipped the service to focus on her recovery.
