Andrew Scott's first project after 'All of Us Strangers' is mysterious, queer & almost here

All of Us Strangers star Andrew Scott has his next big, gay role all set!

The official trailer for Netflix’s limited series Ripley, starring Andrew Scott, has just been released, and we cannot wait to see it!

He's a liar. It's his profession. Andrew Scott stars as Tom Ripley in the new limited series Ripley, only on Netflix April 4, 2024.

The trailer, all in beautiful black and white, sees Scott bring Patricia Highsmith’s legendary con man Tom Ripley to life.

As the song “The Great Pretender” plays, we get to see Scott’s version of Ripley, who travels to Italy and befriends the son of a wealthy man and starts to insert himself into his life.

“He came to Italy, moved into Dickie’s house. He just wouldn’t go away,” Dickie’s supportive girlfriend says in a voice over. “Tom is one of those people who takes advantage of people. He’s taking advantage of Dickie.”

Scott truly is unnerving as he stares stoically out of windows, practices an impression of his friend Dickie in a mirror, and lies his way through the continent. We can’t wait to watch!

Scott isn’t new to playing literary villains. He famously played the queer-coded Moriarty on the BBC’s Sherlock. His version of the legendary character won him a BAFTA Television Award for Best Supporting Actor in 2012. Could a Best Actor trophy be on its way with Ripley?

In addition to Scott, Ripley stars Johnny Flynn as Dickie Greenleaf, Dakota Fanning as Marge Sherwood, as well as Eliot Sumner, Maurizo Lombardi, Margherita Buy, and John Malkovich.

The limited series will have eight episodes and will premiere on Netflix on April 4.
