The flowers were in bloom at the Los Angeles premiere of The Color Purple, as evidenced by Andra Day’s violet explosion of an outfit.
The Grammy-winning singer made waves at the premiere in an incredible, all-purple set pulled from Rahul Mishra's Fall/Winter 2023 Couture collection. The outfit consisted of a huge, flower-shaped top, with the larger-than-life petals featuring intricate embroidered details and a sparkling design. The petals were attached to a form-fitting transparent corset in a matching purple hue. For Day's bottoms, she wore skintight leggings entirely covered in shining violet sequins, which she then topped off with transparent purple socks and strappy silver heels with a sleek pointed-toe.
As for her glam, Day kept with the monochromatic theme, opting for a light purple eyeshadow paired with a glossy nude lip.
Day's red-carpet looks could easily be described as experimental and eclectic, with the singer taking on bold interpretations of classic silhouettes and styles.
For instance, she recently attended Elle's 2023 Women in Hollywood event wearing a flashy take on the traditional women's suit. She tapped Naeem Khan for the occasion, wearing a cropped jacket, bralette, and high-waisted pants embellished with reflective silver panels cut into geometric shapes from the designer's Fall/Winter 2023 Ready-to-Wear collection.
Prior to that, she got into the holiday spirit for the premiere of Candy Cane Lane, where she wore a silky bronze button-up with a glittery sequined Poster Girl skirt with a dramatic white fur trim.
