Since 2021, Andie MacDowell has been showing up and showing out on the red carpet with her gray hair front and center — and she's opening up about how she knew that it was the right move. Speaking at the L'Oréal Paris Women of Worth celebration in Los Angeles last night, she explained that embracing her silver curls was "instinctual" and that she was so happy and excited to work with a brand that let her express her individuality. MacDowell has been working with L'Oréal for almost four decades, fronting the brand's cosmetics, skin care, and hair color.

“I knew instinctually that this was something that I wanted to do. I'm just so thankful that L'Oréal Paris supported me and that everybody's been so kind to me and positive. The response has been really nice,” MacDowell told People. “I'm just appreciative that people let me be the individual that I am without question. I think people also agree that silver hair probably suits me."

At the event, MacDowell paired her silver hair with a shimmering Retrofête pantsuit, black tie-neck bow blouse, and a coordinating clutch.

MacDowell went on to say that it wasn't just her gray hair that she was worried about. Throughout her life, the cosmetics giant has supported her, including when she was pregnant.

“When I started [working with L'Oréal Paris], I was young. When I signed with them, I found out I was pregnant and I was afraid that I would lose the contract. But, it didn't have any negative effect. I did commercials when I was eight months pregnant and I would do commercials literally right after having a baby," she said. "So, I have grown up with L'Oréal Paris, and that's been a huge part of my life."

Last night's celebration saw MacDowell standing shoulder-to-shoulder with her fellow ambassadors Eva Longoria, Aja Naomi King, Camila Cabello, and Helen Mirren. The event celebrated women who are making a difference and inspiring others to do the same. The L'Oréal Paris's Women of Worth initiative awards each recipient with $20,000 to further their causes.

"I think it's a beautiful opportunity to find women throughout the nation that are incredible people who change or get involved in their communities in a very dynamic way," MacDowell finished. "That always makes me feel like I'm not doing enough, but I love shining light on them, supporting them and hearing their stories."
