Anderson Cooper took a moment to pay tribute to his brother, Carter Cooper, on the anniversary of his death, sharing some personal photos and a meaningful message on social media.

The 56-year-old posted three black-and-white photos of Carter on Instagram, with the first showing Cooper and his brother as young boys.

Cooper wrote in the caption, "It is 35 years today since my brother, Carter Cooper, died. I think of him, and miss him, every day."

Carter died by suicide on July 22, 1988. He was 23 years old.

Many fans of Cooper and people who went through similar experiences of loss commented on the post in support.

Quite a few people also referenced and thanked Cooper for his 2022 podcast, All There Is with Anderson Cooper, which focused on Cooper's exploration of loss and grief as he went through his late mother's apartment after her death.

While discussing his mother Gloria Vanderbilt's difficult life and his own personal losses on CNN, Cooper shared how he continually questioned how much he knew his brother after his death, trying to understand why it all happened. But he noted, "Sometimes you need to get to a place where you can live without a why."

Cooper, who also lost his father, Wyatt Cooper, when he was 10 years old, is now a parent himself, with two young sons. He named his older son Wyatt, in memory of his father, while his youngest is called Sebastian. Cooper shares both sons with his former partner, Benjamin Maisani.
