British girl, 17, who died on school trip to New York named by US police
Authorities in the US have named the British schoolgirl who died last week on a trip to New York.
The New York Police Department identified the 17-year-old student as Anastasia Uglow, according to Bristol Live.
Anastasia, a student at Bristol Grammar School, died last Thursday after reportedly falling ill at the Holiday Inn Express in Midtown Manhattan.
The sixth-form student is said to have been found unconscious at the hotel.
She was then taken to a nearby hospital where she was pronounced dead.
“We are talking with the US authorities and are providing support to the family,” a Foreign Office spokesman said.
It is understood there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death and that the girl may have fallen ill during the trip.

An NYPD spokesman told Bristol Live on Monday: “The Medical Examiner will determine the exact cause of death and the investigation is ongoing.”
While Bristol Grammar School said it had informed teachers and pupils of Anastasia's death.
The school has also reportedly “opened a book of condolence” so pupils and staff can pay tribute to Anastasia.
