Mayor Pete Buttigieg is your average late millennial. He created his Facebook account in college, watches Parks and Recreation, and met his husband on Hinge. However, according to astrology, Pete’s youthful habits speak to only a small part of his personality—his birth chart confirms he is an “old soul” and has always felt wise beyond his years. This is why it comes as no surprise that he’s gunning to become the youngest-ever president of the United States at the age of 38.

While we know that Mayor Pete was born on January 19th, 1982, in South Bend, Indiana, his exact time of birth is unknown, which makes it impossible to determine his Rising (or Ascendant) sign. But that’s not the only hurdle we have when it comes to reading his chart: On the day of Pete’s birth, the Moon transitioned from Scorpio into Sagittarius at 2:01 p.m. ET, meaning he could be either a Scorpio Moon or a Sagittarius Moon depending on the time he was born.

So while I can’t evaluate his Moon or Rising sign with certainty, I can spill ALL the tea on the Sun sign of South Bend’s favorite celeb.

CAPRICORN SUN

Astrologically speaking, when a particular theme is extremely important in someone’s life, it usually appears in many places within the birth chart. Mayor Pete was born on the day when the Moon transitioned from Scorpio to Sagittarius *and* on the same day that the Sun was preparing to leave Capricorn and enter Aquarius. Although Pete is a Capricorn, his Sun is positioned at the very final phase of that zodiac sign at 29 degrees. (ICYMI, you can’t actually be “on the cusp” of two signs—sorry!) Each sign has exactly 30 degrees, which range from 0, the first degree, to 29, the last. The final degree is also referred to as the Anaretic Degree and is believed to have incredible significance in a birth chart.

For Pete, the Anaretic Degree is a pivotal placement and reveals that he has mastered many of the qualities of his Capricorn Sun. Capricorn, the last earth sign of the zodiac, is known to be hard-working, resilient, and exceptionally mature. In fact, those who are heavily influenced by Capricorn in their chart tend to “grow up” quickly and assume responsibilities way before their peers. There’s no question that Mayor Buttigieg has a lot of life experience under his belt.

Pete was also born during an eclipse season, and eclipses activate the Lunar Nodes. Pete was born with the North Node of Destiny connected to his Sun in Capricorn, meaning the more he leans into his true identity (the Sun), the more he activates his karmic destiny (North Node). But he’s not the only 2020 hopeful with this mystical astrological signature: Senator Bernie Sanders and President Donald Trump also have a Sun and North Node alignment in their respective charts. In a way, all three of these men are constantly being pulled toward their destiny.

Oh, and here’s Pete’s Most Capricorn Sun Quote:

How he feels about being the youngest candidate: “Well, I think it really depends on the person, and some people twice my age are just as vigorous and capable of doing the job. But I will say that I think a new generational perspective matters at a time like this. I come from a generation that has so much on the line. The longer you’re planning to be here, the more you’re going to be personally impacted by the choices that are being made right now.”

And now, an astrological prediction for Pete:

Although we can’t calculate timing without a complete birth chart, there’s no doubt these next several months ahead will be pivotal for Pete. In July 2018, he began what’s known as the Nodal Return, when the Lunar Nodes in the sky align with the Lunar Nodes in his birth chart and everything is driven by destiny. Pete was born during the Cancer-Capricorn eclipse series, so these upcoming Cancer-Capricorn eclipses on December 26th and January 10th will massively impact this Indiana-born politician. Only time will tell what will transpire, but one thing’s for sure: For Pete, being part of the 2020 election is definitely written in the stars.
