Here's something to consider: do you think Ana De Armas is a movie star?

I'm not trying to be rude, I promise — and, I mean, Ana is quite famous at this point! She's even nominated for the Best Actress Oscar this year for her performance in Blonde, which I personally do not recommend watching.

Here's the thing, though: in a recent interview with Vanity Fair, Ana herself said that she doesn't really think we have movie stars anymore. Hmm.

Ana explained that she doesn't think "new generations" understand what a movie star is, because of "social media."

“There is so much information out there and oversharing," she explained. "The concept of a movie star is someone untouchable you only see onscreen. That mystery is gone."

"For the most part, we’ve done that to ourselves — nobody’s keeping anything from anyone anymore.”

Ana then went on to explain why she herself isn't very active on social media. “I barely use it because I just feel like things are always wrong on social media," she said. "If it was up to me, I would delete Instagram right now, but I can’t."

"I understand that I’m not just an actress. I have other brands that I’m working with and I have other commitments."

Ana conceded that using social media has been good for promoting Blonde as well as "other films I want to talk about" — but, otherwise, she prefers to keep her personal life private.

“It’s tricky because you feel the pressure to share some personal insight, or something about your private life, to keep people interested in you,” she said.

"You have to find a balance somehow, which I find very difficult.”
