Amy Schumer Shared New Photos From the Day She Gave Birth to Her Son

Amy Schumer is getting her 2019 roundup started early. Before most people got out of bed on Sunday, Schumer shared a collage of her favorite photos from the last year, including a never-before-seen snapshot of her C-section. Earlier this year, Schumer and her husband, Chris Fischer, welcomed their son Gene Attell.

"It was a very good year," she wrote alongside the collage. The new photo shows Gene and Schumer's very first meeting, right when he was given to her after his birth. The other images include photos of Schumer with Fischer, who she married in February, as well as her best friend, Bridget Everett, and her The Humans co-stars, Beanie Feldstein, June Squibb, and Richard Jenkins.

Earlier this year, Schumer told People that while giving birth was an unforgettable experience, it was also "terrifying."

"Giving birth is the most terrifying thing you’ll ever do that’s completely worth it," she said. "Having a c-section was … my pregnancy was so hard, I was just very ready to meet my son."

And while her throwback post is full of smiles, Schumer hasn't been shy about getting real about the hard truth of being pregnant and being a mom. In a series of Instagram posts, she showed the less-glamorous parts of motherhood, including hospital-issue underwear, "I’m really sorry if I offended anyone with my hospital underwear. Except I’m just kidding. #csection #balmain," and going back to work after baby.

"Five months today and like all moms I love him so much it hurts," she wrote. "I'm feeling strong and good and like I'm still a human being with interests and ambitions and goals I’m excited to reach. It's felt good to be back at work."
