Amy Schumer Jokes About Competing With Meghan Markle Now That They're Both Pregnant
Amy Schumer gave the Internet a bit of a surprise yesterday, October 22, when she announced on her friend's Instagram Story that she's expecting her first child with husband Chris Fischer. Of course, Schumer isn't the only high-profile celeb who recently revealed she's pregnant. Exactly one week ago Meghan Markle confirmed via Kensington Palace that she and Prince Harry have a baby on the way too—putting an end to all that unfair speculation surrounding her coats and straight hair. (Yes, people really thought Markle's pin-straight hairstyle a few weeks back suggested she's pregnant. It's some type of royal conspiracy.)
The Trainwreck actress broke her silence on the royal timing of her pregnancy in a statement to the Los Angeles Times: "Chris and I are thrilled and almost positive he's the father. I look forward to competing with [Meghan] Markle every step of the way."
I seriously just thought of 15 movie plots based on this quote alone. Think Bride Wars meets Baby Mama but also with some royal themes mixed in. Is Hallmark looking for a last-minute addition to its Christmas movie slate? Because this one sounds like a smash.
All jokes aside, a big congratulations are in order for Schumer and Fischer. Let's celebrate by revisiting the time Schumer dressed up as a giant baby on the Ellen show back in February. She talked about the stunt a few months later with host Ellen DeGeneres, saying, "I have never wanted kids. And then I saw myself as a baby on your show and I thought, Who am I to deprive the world of such a beautiful baby?"
