While one-third of women will have a hysterectomy by the time they’re 60, per VeryWell Health, oftentimes, they don’t think about where to display their removed uterus in their home. However, Amy Schumer found a crafty way to display her uterus (and even talked about it in a recent interview).

On a recent episode of the SmartLess podcast with Jason Bateman, Sean Hayes, and Will Arnett, she talked about how she bronzed her uterus. “Jason asked me one time, like very rudely, because I actually had my uterus removed, and he was like, ‘Did you save it?’ And I was like, ‘I actually did save it.’”

She added, “I had it bronzed, you know, because of how difficult my pregnancy was. I didn’t even think of this, but I get the chance to show this to you.”

The act of bronzing something consists of either getting a professional to do it, or you can do it yourself by mixing bronzing powder with fast-drying spar varnish, and applying multiple coats onto the object.

So, to immortalize Schumer’s uterus, she bronzed it and proudly shows it off.

For those who don’t know, the comedian had a hysterectomy and an appendectomy in September 2021 after dealing with endometriosis. She gave fans a glimpse into her procedure with an Instagram post of her at the hospital, which she posted with the caption reading, “If you have really painful periods you may have #endometriosis.”

Schumer and chef Chris Fischer married in 2018, and later welcomed a son named Gene, born in May 2019.
