Amy Lehman, Doctor & Activist

Amy Lehman is the founder of the Lake Tanganyika Floating Health Clinic, which provides health care access via a traveling ship to millions of Central African people who live in the isolated Lake Tanganyika Basin. As the basin is Africa's largest source of fresh water, it is vital to maintain, but also difficult to access due to steep mountains and underdeveloped coastal plains. Recognized by Newsweek as one of 150 Women Who Shake the World, Dr. Lehman trained in surgery at the University of Chicago and was a Senior Fellow with the MacLean Center for Clinical Medical Ethics for two years.
