America's Northernmost Resort in Danger of Closing Under Financial Stress

Is it possible that the ski resort situated furthest north in North America might remain closed this upcoming winter season? The recent developments at Fairbanks, Alaska's Ski Land have brought to light a state of flux within the mountain's operations. Last week, an announcement was made regarding the future leadership of the resort. Devin Larson, the current General Manager of Ski Land, has indicated his intention to step down from his position after the conclusion of his contract in November. Taking over this role will be Brad Bishop, a familiar face at Ski Land who has served in various capacities and has also worked as a ski patroller at Crested Butte for multiple winters. Another significant change involves the appointment of Jack Wilbur as the new President of the Board of Directors for the Fairbanks Ski Coalition. This board holds the responsibility of overseeing the management of the ski area.

From the post:

What can you do to help ensure Ski Land’s success? Ski Land is in dire need of cash to get us through this year’s off-season period. The revenue Ski Land earns through the sale of season passes, day ticket sales, kitchen sales, and ski and snowboard rentals cover the day-to-day expenses incurred during the ski season but does not cover all off-season operating expenses and ever-present, on-going equipment and facility upgrades and maintenance required to keep it operating safely and reliably. Net income from the 2022/2023 ski season and donations by Fairbanks Ski Coalition board members have allowed us to pay the bills through the end of July. We need your financial help to get us through the rest of this year’s off-season.

I am asking that you join me and my wife Carol and the other Board members and make a donation to Ski Land to keep the chair lift operating next year. You can do so by going to www.fairbanksskicoalition.org and pushing the Donate button, or you can send a check to Fairbanks Ski Coalition, PO Box 82030, Fairbanks, AK, 99708. Fairbanks Ski Coalition is a 501(c)3 non-profit, EIN 87-2736243. Please be generous. Many of you made deeply appreciated donations last year, please do so again this year. Also, please share this post with your social network. Thank you.
