America's First Destination Ski Resort Receives First Snow Of The Season

Ski resorts across the American west have been recording their first snowfalls of the season over the last few weeks, but Sun Valley Resort, Idaho had been spared... until now!

The resort took to social media on October 2nd, 2023 to announce that the first dusting of snow had fallen on the upper reaches of Bald Mountain.

Check out the stunning drone video below:

From the caption:

"The first snowfall has arrived in the valley! Counting down the days until we're skiing and riding on Bald Mountain! Meanwhile, we get to gaze at it's beautiful frosted peak"

Sun Valley is known for being America's first "destination ski resort". It was built by the Union Pacific Railroad in 1936 to encourage vacationers to use the railway for travel.

It's hard to tell just how much snow fell at Sun Valley, but even a "frosted peak" should be enough to get the locals excited.

Mullets seem to be making a comeback amongst the youth of America. In keeping with 90s hair trends, Sun Valley is making a good case for frosted tips to come back en masse.

On that note, Justin Timberlake, who was part of the popularization of the frosted tip look, has reunited with his 90s/early 2000s boyband NSYNC for a new song.

Who wore it better? Bald Mountain or J.T.?<p><a href="https://www.shutterstock.com/image-photo/pop-star-britney-spears-boyfriend-nsync-98171399" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" data-ylk="slk:Sun Valley Resort/Shutterstock-Featureflash Photo Agency;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas" class="link ">Sun Valley Resort/Shutterstock-Featureflash Photo Agency</a></p>

Is it 2023 or 1998? You be the judge.

Sun Valley plans to open Bald Mountain for the '23-'24 season on Thanksgiving Day (November 23rd), conditions and weather permitting.

I will personally pay for somebody's opening day lift ticket if they sport a full-fledged frosted tip hairdo at Sun Valley. Send pics to matt.lorelli@powder.com.
