American woman demonstrates how *not* to make British tea

It’s pretty much impossible to mess up a cup

of tea — what could possibly go wrong?.

Well, if you’ve seen TikTok user jchelle36’s

most recent video, then you know that

everything can go wrong, apparently.

In the video, jchelle36 — an

“American living in the U.K.” — shares

how she makes hot tea, AKA “British tea".

First, jchelle36 fills a mug

with water from the sink.

Next, she heats that water in the microwave for one

minute (???) and then, with the help of her daughter,

pours milk into the cup before steeping the tea bag.

Finally, she adds enough sugar

to her tea to bake an entire batch

of chocolate chip cookies.

“And that’s how you make hot tea!”

jchelle36 says at the end of the video

as she holds up her hot mug of milk.

Jchelle36’s video has gone viral —

not just on TikTok where it has more

than 111,000 likes, but also on Twitter.

“Never been so triggered in my life,”

U.K.-based Twitter user whatforholl

joked about the “disgusting” tea tutorial.

“This angered me on the deepest

possible level,” another user noted. “This

has to be satire,” a third person added
