It's been less than a month since American Idol's 2023 season began airing, but it looks like a slight schedule change is in store.

Every Sunday, viewers tune into ABC at 8 p.m. ET to watch aspiring artists vie for a chance to be mentored by Luke Bryan, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie on the singing competition show. After witnessing memorable moments like The Voice alum Michael Williams' return to TV and Luke tearing up over Iam Tongi's audition, folks are ready to see what's next.

This weekend though, the 2023 Oscars is airing its annual broadcast during the show's designated TV spot. But before fans start worrying about the new episode of American Idol, fear not. The show dropped a major clue about when you can tune in again.

Is there a new episode of American Idol on tonight?

A new episode of American Idol will air on Sunday, March 12, 2023 around 11 p.m. ET. The show tweeted about its schedule changing up a bit. Instead of skipping a week, American Idol with have a different start time. According to its Twitter post, folks will have to wait until the 2023 Oscars end to watch more auditions.

"#IDOL will be on right after the #Oscars with even more incredible auditions!" the show tweeted on March 6. "Get ready for a doubleheader of SUPERSTARS coming up this Sunday on @ABCNetwork!"

Despite the significant time change, don't expect it to stick around forever. American Idol will go back to its regular 8 p.m. ET time slot next week, on March 19, with more memorable moments for everyone to enjoy.

For those with TVs, you can just keep the channel on ABC and watch the 2023 Academy Awards before tuning into American Idol. But if you don't plan on staying up late before the start of a new week, you can also catch up the next day.

Should you decide that route, head over to the show title page on Hulu's website or hop on the Hulu app after Sunday night. You'll want to make sure that you already have an account though.
