'American Idol' Star Luke Bryan Confronts Katy Perry After She Tweeted About His "Hip Thrusting"

When an American Idol contestant recently covered his 2011 hit "Country Girl (Shake It for Me)," Luke Bryan simply couldn't control the urge to dance.

Not even a minute into Idol hopeful Drake McCain's lively performance in the showstopper round, Luke got up from his chair to shake it for fellow judges Katy Perry and Lionel Richie (who was calling in virtually).

After the audition aired, Katy reshared the moment Luke started grooving on Twitter. Hilariously, she captioned the tweet, "2 generations of #AmericanIdol hip thrusting." Despite trying to poke a little fun at the country singer, Luke totally embraced his moves and wrote back to the "Teenage Dream" singer, "You’re never too young or old to shake it #CountryDoesIdol."

Needless to say, fans loved seeing the country artist get down on the show — and Katy calling him out for it. "Hope I can still shake it at 100 lol," one fan tweeted at Katy and Luke. "😂😂😂 ridiculous and too funny at the same time," another viewer declared.

Honestly, we're not a bit surprised that Katy tweeted out the above clip of Luke. After all, Katy, Luke and Lionel have been goofing around quite a bit on set and online this season (in fact, the trio will occasionally engage in a Photoshop battle on Twitter during pre-taped Idol episodes). If you ask us, this clip is just one more example of how much the judges love working with each other.

While Drake was ultimately eliminated from the competition ahead of the top 24 cut, fans still have so many other talented artists to cheer on in upcoming episodes, including Alyssa Wray, Alana Sherman, Deshawn Gonclaves, and Willie Spence. What else is there to look forward to, you ask? More of Luke's unapologetic dance moves, of course!
