In case you haven’t heard yet, the show has already been renewed for season 6 (overall 21st season). The news was announced just before the American Idol 2022 finale. According to Deadline, American Idol was the no. 1 show on ABC during its latest run with viewership increasing by 15%. In other words, everyone wanted to see if Noah, HunterGirl or Leah Marlene would win.

Although there might have been rumors that American Idol would follow Dancing With the Stars and leave the alphabet network for its streaming service Disney+, that won’t be the case. If you’re already looking forward to watching a new season of American Idol, we’ve got all the details.

A premiere date for American Idol season 6 (overall 21st season) has not been announced. If the ABC competition show sticks to its usual schedule, American Idol season 2023 could return in mid- to late February.

Who are the American Idol judges next season?

American Idol judges Lionel Richie, Katy Perry and Luke Bryan haven’t confirmed if they will be back for the next season. That said, the ABC panel doesn’t “generally sign up until later in the summer,” per Deadline. There also hasn’t been word about American Idol host Ryan Seacrest returning.

When and where will American Idol auditions for the 2023 season take place?

American Idol auditions for the 2023 seasons are currently open. The ABC site is calling for aspiring singers to submit their audition videos online. “There are singers and then there are Idols. American Idol producers are looking for the next singing superstar!” a message reads on the audition site. “Will you be at least 15 years old by September 15, 2022 and believe you have what it takes? We want to hear what you’ve got!”

AI hopefuls can also sign up for Audition Alerts to be the first to know about Idol Across America Virtual Audition dates. (Noah first auditioned through this method before he stood in front of the judges.) American Idol will also eventually share in-person dates when the show hits the road.

How can I watch and stream the new season of American Idol?

When American Idol announces its season 6 premiere date, folks will most likely be tuning in to ABC on Sunday and Monday nights. If you can’t watch live on a TV or a streaming service (like YouTube TV or fuboTV), American Idol episodes usually become available the next day on ABC.com and the ABC app. Hulu users can also catch up on American Idol via the Hulu site or app.
