America Ferrera breastfeeds 2-month-old son in new selfie

As a first-time mom with a 2-month-old boy at home, America Ferrera is no doubt familiar with the ins and outs of breastfeeding. It’s little surprise, then, that she’s one of many celebrity moms, including Alanis Morissette, who are showing support for World Breastfeeding Week.

Though the 34-year-old actress opted against showing off son Sebastian’s face — the “Giant Floating Baby Head” from the Phineas and Ferb cartoon makes a handy replacement — in her selfie, she didn’t hesitate to reveal part of her exposed chest as she breastfeeds the infant.

Her pro-nursing-in-public caption, meanwhile, is a riff on the Lesley Gore hit, “It’s My Party.”

The Superstore star and husband Ryan Piers Williams announced Sebastian’s birth in late May. Most fans — and former Ugly Betty co-star Vanessa Williams — praised Ferrera for “promoting unashamed public breastfeeding.”

Of course, there’s always a few critics lurking in the comments. …

“What’s wrong with having courtesy for others and covering up in public places like a restaurant?” read one comment. “I wouldn’t want to be exposed. I don’t understand how whipping out your boob for everyone to see is female empowerment… Wanting to exhibit decorum is not a bad thing.”

“I see where these proclamations are coming from, nevertheless I’d wish women activists … would use their voice for something more important than breastfeeding,” complained another follower.

“Women have no class these days,” added a critc. “Please breastfeed your child in private.”

Careful, folks. Moms don’t take too kindly to being told to cover up when they’re feeding their babies.
