America’s Best Restaurants to spotlight Colorado Springs

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — A national media and marketing company will be bringing attention to three local Colorado Springs restaurants.

America’s Best Restaurants will bring its “ABR Roadshow” to The Warehouse Restaurant & Gallery, Roots Cafe, and Black Forest Bistro in Colorado Springs. The restaurants will have popular dishes highlighted and the owners will be interviewed about the restaurants’ place in the community.

The Warehouse Restaurant & Gallery is located at 25 West Cimarron Street and is owned by James and Shaundy Africano. James was a Chef at The Warehouse from 1997 to 2007 and returned to retake the helm, completing minor renovations and updating the menu. The Warehouse & Gallery reopened in 2015.

Hawaiian restaurant opens in former El Taco Rey location

Roots Cafe is soon celebrating its first anniversary and is run by Dana Moore and Pamela Velazquez, who have been friends for over 20 years. Velazquez is a pastor and Roots Cafe was started as a food truck to help support the ministry and now holds church services on Sunday mornings before they open. Roots Cafe is located at 330 East Colorado Avenue in downtown Colorado Springs.

Black Forest Bistro is owned by Deanna Johnson, who had worked in catering and restaurants before opening a food truck and then moved to a brick-and-mortar restaurant in the summer of 2020. Black Forest Bistro is home to the unique Cheese Wheel Experience where fresh pasta is tossed in the center of a 50-pound wheel of Parmigiano Reggiano. The restaurant is located at 6750 Shoup Road.
