Amber Rose is canceling her annual SlutWalk for this important reason

Since Amber Rose held her first SlutWalk in 2015, the event has been a powerful way for women to take ownership of their bodies and work to end of victim-blaming. The model and actress has also continued to fight slut-shaming outside of the annual event, even sharing the occasional NSFW photo for the feminist cause. But now, Rose has announced that there will be no 2019 SlutWalk—for some very understandable reasons.

Rose broke the news in an August 13th Instagram post. Explaining her decision to cancel what would have been the fifth annual SlutWalk, she wrote “I just have to protect my energy and peace.”

The model and actress, who is pregnant with her second child, expressed gratitude for her partner and her new baby. She also wrote that she was trying to reduce her stress levels during her pregnancy.

Rose also revealed that she has ended “about 20” toxic friendships over the past year.

While we’re sad that SlutWalk won’t be happening this year, Rose’s reasons for canceling it make a lot of sense. It’s important to do what’s best for your mental health, and we’re glad that Rose is thinking about what’s best for her.
