Amber Heard's Former Director Says She's a Standout — & the Reason Involves Her Daughter Oonagh

Amber Heard is finding her way back to acting, and she’s garnered reverence from the director of her most recent film — for a reason you may not be expecting.
In the Fire director Conor Allyn told People that Heard’s dedication to motherhood sets her apart from other actors with children in the industry. “Amber’s such a dedicated mom,” the director said. He commended her commitment to “making the time” for her 2-year-old daughter Oonagh Paige, recalling a conversation he and Heard had before they began filming the movie in Italy.

“‘Oonagh’s coming with me,'” Allyn remembered the Aquaman actress telling him. He continued quoting Heard, saying “‘I’m going to see her during the day. Yes, I’m going to work a really hard day and I’m totally committed to that. But at lunch, Oonagh’s going to join me for an hour and [also] when I’m not shooting.'”
Of her dedication to her daughter, the director said he “admire[s] it greatly,” especially considering she works in an industry that has a reputation for putting family on the back burner.

Heard welcomed Oonagh as a single mother in 2021, and she relocated to Europe in the aftermath of her highly publicized 2022 defamation trial with ex-husband Johnny Depp. In April 2023, a source close to the actress told People, “She has been living in Spain, where she gets more privacy. The trial was beyond stressful for her and she just wanted to start fresh out of the country.” They added, “She is excited about working and filming again. … She has new energy and is focused on things that she loves.”
Allyn echoed the insider’s sentiment, sharing Heard is “living her best life in Spain with her daughter and just finding happiness in that way.”
