Amber Heard reveals she "still loves" Johnny Depp despite trial and "broken relationship"

Amber Heard has opened up about her feelings towards ex-husband Johnny Depp, admitting that she "still loves" him despite recently losing a $10 million lawsuit he had brought against her.
"Absolutely. I love him," Heard said on the Today show (via NBC News) when asked if she still has feelings for her ex. "I loved him with all my heart and I tried the best I could to make a deeply broken relationship work and I couldn’t."
She went on, "I have no bad feelings or ill will towards him at all. I know that might be hard to understand. Or it might be really easy to understand if you have just ever loved anyone… It should be easy."
To recap, in recent weeks the world watched on as Depp sued Heard over a 2018 Washington Post article. He says that in the article, Heard implied that he was physically abusive towards her during their relationship. The case was highly publicised and ignited debate after debate on social media, with fans of both actors loudly vocalising their cases. At the end of the trial, the jury ruled in Depp's favour, deciding that his reputation and career had been damaged as a result of her article. Based on that, Heard was ordered to pay her ex $10 million in compensatory damages and $350,000 in punitive damages – although she has said she does not have the funds to pay this.
Despite Depp's claims, Heard continues to insist that her Washington Post article was not about her former husband. "What the op-ed was about was me loaning my voice to a bigger cultural conversation that we were having at the time," she told the Today show's host, referencing the #MeToo movement that was at the centre of the world's attention at the time. "I obviously knew it was important for me not to make it about him," she added. "Or to do anything like defame him."
On the topic of how the trial has impacted her, the actor – who this week had to deny claims that she's been cut from the upcoming Aquaman sequel – said that she is "nervous" about speaking out. "I’m scared that no matter what I do, no matter what I say, or how I say it — every step that I take will present another opportunity for this sort of — silencing, which is what, I guess, a defamation lawsuit is meant to do," she replied when asked if she feared Depp would sue her again.
"It’s meant to — meant to take your voice," she added.
