AmazonFresh Pickup Officially Opens in Seattle
While upstarts and long-standing companies alike work to expedite grocery delivery in metros all over the U.S., e-commerce leader Amazon is trying something different: super-speedy grocery pickup.
The new concept, called AmazonFresh Pickup, opened on May 25 at two Seattle locations after a soft launch earlier this year. The physical locations, open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily, marry online and offline shopping as consumers can order their supermarket staples through a smartphone app and then pick them up without exiting their vehicles. At the drive-up shop, Amazon associates load bags on arrival.
The Fresh pickup perk is a freebie for Amazon Prime members, which marks an important deviation away from the standard AmazonFresh program.
