When I unwrapped the Harymor Smart Bird Feeder last Christmas, I unwrapped joy.

We've tested a lot of smart bird feeders at Reviewed. I'm currently testing the Harymor bird feeder, and while I haven't concluded my test yet, I'm confident that the Harymor is a worthy addition to the list. And right now, it's a remarkable $90 off — and honestly, a total steal.

Smart bird feeders give you a little peek into the wildlife of your backyard, with a strategically placed camera recording all the avian comings and goings. Since erecting mine in late December, I've delighted in seeing sparrows, cardinals, finches, nuthatches, chickadees and yes, squirrels, visiting, snacking, flying, and sometimes fighting with each other.

If you're a bird lover, the thrill of seeing a new bird at your feeder is unmatched — unless you rank it against the thrill of getting said feeder for a great deal.

1. Why do we love the Harymor Smart Bird Feeder?

How do I love this bird feeder? Let me count the ways.

Getting the feeder itself installed and the app set up and linked is relatively straightforward, and so is filling and refilling it. But the real joy comes in sitting back and letting a steady stream of videos of my newest feathered friends wash over my phone.

The app is intuitive to use, and the video quality is crisp and clear: Whenever I post a video I've downloaded (also easy to do) to social media, I get compliments. And I post them, uh, a lot.

Are there downsides? Sure. The AI that tells you what kind of bird you're seeing is definitely a work in progress — for every bird that the app correctly IDs, there's another that feels like a mad lib. I live in the Midwest, and yet I frequently get a notification that I have an Oma'o, a Hawaiian thrush that lives exclusively on the island of Hawai'i, at my feeder. (It's been a dark-eye junco, every time.)

But I'm not in it for the AI. While the bird IDs are helpful when they're right, I can use context clues to figure out which bird visitors I have that day. What I am in for is the reliable, clear, crisp videos of birds hanging out at my feeder delivered directly to my phone, and that is exactly what I get.

3. Is the Harymor Smart Bird Feeder worth it?

Many smart bird feeders go for north of $200 (including two of the fabulous ones our tester put through their paces), and the Haymor itself normally retails for closer to $200 — and in my opinion, is worth it at that price. This is a fantastic price on a product that's brought me a ton of joy. If you're in the market for a bird feeder, this is a deal you should jump on.
