Amazon Shoppers Are 'Shocked' at How Well This Under-$20 Treatment Stops Hair Loss

The wide world of Amazon beauty is a unique beast. When you stroll through the aisles of Sephora, Ulta, or the drugstore (back in the day…), the top-billed brands are pretty much set in stone, thanks to a mammoth amount of advertising and built-up trust. But on Amazon, the playing field is leveled — so when beauty brands like Andalou Organics and Pura D'Or earn massive followings, you know the juice is good.
In case you're not familiar, Pura D'Or's hair and skin products perennially reside at the top of Amazon best-seller lists. Its organic rosehip seed oil is one of Amazon's best-selling hair treatments, and its Anti-Thinning shampoo and conditioner set has raked in over 13,000 five-star ratings, plus the top slot as Amazon's best-selling shampoo and conditioner set.
Unsurprisingly, shoppers say the brand's Hair Thinning Therapy Energizing Scalp Serum Revitalizer is just as good and a secret weapon for combatting hair loss from age, stress, menopause, and illness. Perfect timing, because according to a study published in the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology, dermatology clinics in New York City saw a 400 percent increase in hair shedding among patients in December 2020 (so if you've noticed hair coming out in droves, you're most definitely not alone).

Similar experiences brought shoppers to the Revitalizer. Someone who was finding stress-induced bald spots writes that the serum is life-changing — they spent over $800 on hair growth products, but the under-$20 Pura D'Or did the trick. "Miracle, MIRACLE!!!! My beautiful hair is growing back! I am shocked." Even in extreme cases of shoppers losing drain-clogging "hair by the handfuls," the serum helped the shedding stop and turned their hair soft and shiny.
To make sure the results weren't solely anecdotal, we turned the formula over to dermatologist Michele Green, an internationally renowned expert in hair loss and hair growth. The ingredient list is a hefty combination of plant extracts and oils, but Green spotlights the inclusion of argan oil, biotin, aloe vera, caffeine, and zinc chloride as likely responsible for shoppers' healthier, shinier, stronger hair.
Per Green, argan oil is full of vitamin E, which can dramatically boost the elasticity of hair and reduce breakage. Its benefits continue: Green says caffeine has been found to lengthen the duration of our hair growing phase and contains antioxidants that "replenish dull strands and create a beautiful sheen."
In terms of timeline, some report their damaged hairline beginning to fill in within a kind-of-stunning seven days of use.
