Metroid Prime Remastered

Nintendo GameCube heads already know that Metroid Prime is one of the best games of all time. If you missed back in 2002, this is the perfect opportunity to see why so many players remember the game so fondly.

Shifting Metroid’s iconic side-scrolling perspective to first-person, Prime has a unique feel that sets it apart from other platformers and shooters.

Whether it’s off-roading, trying to beat your buddy’s best time, or simply flat-out racing against a variety of opponents, Forza Horizon 5’s Mexico has enough events to keep your hands on the wheel for a long time. Just make sure your hard drive has enough space. That huge, lush world takes up a ton of space on your Xbox’s hard drive.

Hogwarts Legacy

You probably didn’t ever expect to see Mario and Peach blasting bad guys with guns in a strategy RPG, but that’s exactly what the Mario + Rabbids series is all about. With cover-based tactical gameplay, Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope is a great onramp for new players who want to learn the ins and outs of strategy games, which can often be complex and hard to learn.

The sequel to 2017’s Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle, Sparks of Hope features more missions, more weapons, and more bizarre Mushroom Kingdom crossovers than you could possibly expect. Strategy games often get overlooked by mainstream players who don’t know the genre, but I’d argue this is one of the Switch’s hidden gems, and definitely worth picking up now that it’s on sale.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor

Yet another acclaimed release from the past few months, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is the sequel to 2019’s Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, which is generally considered one of the best Star Wars games of the past decade.

Set between the prequel and original film trilogy, Jedi: Survivor continues the adventures of Cal Kestis, one of the few Jedi left after the Empire purges the galaxy of his order. With an ever-growing arsenal of force powers at his disposal, Cal has to evade the clutches of the Empire while working with the rebels that fight against its growing control.

Featuring precise, technical combat and fascinating alien worlds to explore, Jedi: Survivor is a great pick for any Star Wars fan.

Halo Infinite

One of the Xbox’ splashiest exclusives in the Series X era, Halo Infinite is one of the most impressive single-player first-person shooters I’ve played in a long time. It casts Master Chief and Cortana in a new adventure that gives players more freedom in how they blast the bad guys, as well as an impressive grappling hook that’s a joy to use.

It also brings back Halo’s distinctive multiplayer, which features lots of unique modes like “Fiesta” and “Big Team Battle.” If Halo Infinite is still on your to-do list, you should grab it now on the cheap.

Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales -- Ultimate Edition

Super Mario Odyssey [Digital Code]

Prime Day is Mario time! There are a whole bunch of Switch games on sale for Prime Day starring Nintendo's favorite plumber, including his newest 3D adventure. To save Princess Peach, Mario teams up with Cappy, a sentient hat that helps possess and transform into all kinds of creatures. Challenges await in the nooks and crannies of every level, but you don't need to every one. Super Mario Odyssey is all about fun, and you play however you want to.

Demon’s Souls

Perhaps you’ve already played a few entries in the brutally challenging, but beloved “Souls” series, but Demon’s Souls is the game that started it all.

This remake faithfully recasts all of the sharp edges and unanswered questions of the original, while giving it a new coat of paint and restoring its online functionality. Make no mistake: This is a hard game, and unlike Elden Ring, it gives you no shortcuts or optional tools to dull the pain.

If getting roasted by the same dragon again and again doesn’t sound fun to you, then you might want to stick with something else. But you’d be missing out on what is undoubtedly one of the most influential and important games ever made.

Gran Turismo 7

The latest entry in perhaps the most iconic racing game series of all time, Gran Turismo 7 delivers the ultra-realistic behind the wheel experience that fans know and love. Often described as a love letter to automotive culture, GT7’s absurd level of detail and customizability will appeal to the gearhead in all of us, as well as taking full advantage of PS5’s technical capabilities.

If you’re the kind of racing fan that likes to plan every facet of your car and each pit stop, this is a sim that will deeply appeal to you. For the rest of us, there’s always Mario Kart.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge

The TMNT beat ’em ups from the ’90s are often discussed with hushed reverence by aging SNES and Genesis fans, but don’t let the nostalgia bomb fool you. This retro revival from developer Tribute games is a pitch-perfect throwback.

Featuring all of your favorite Turtle foes, like Krang, Bebop and Rocksteady and, of course, the Shredder, it’s a love letter to the classics full of wild beat ’em-up to new heights. If you’ve ever spent a day pumping quarters into classic arcade brawlers like X-Men, The Simpsons, or Battletoads at your local arcade, this is one that you definitely want to check out

A Plague Tale: Requiem

Sequel to the surprise 2019 hit, A Plague Tale: Innocence, A Plague Tale: Requiem continues the horrific journey of Amicia and Hugo De Rune, a pair of displaced noble children on the road to find health and safety in an apocalyptic medieval France torn apart by a plague of bloodthirsty rats. You have to use your wits to stealthily sneak around knights that want to capture you and carve a path through the chaos. As with its predecessor, Requiem is a striking, emotional journey that tugs on your heartstrings. While we'd recommend starting with the original, you can absolutely start here with this underappreciated gem of a game.

Kena: Bridge of Spirits - Deluxe Edition (PS5) - PlayStation 5

With Pixar-like animation, Kena: Bridge of Spirits is a stylish action game set in a lush open-world that’s thrilling to explore.
