If you're a devout e-book reader, then the chances are that grabbing yourself a good Amazon Prime Day Kindle deal is a top priority for you this Prime Day. From the standard Kindle to the premium Kindle Oasis, we'll be scouring the internet to find the best prices on every Kindle model to make sure you get a great bargain.

So, why invest in a Kindle deal rather than a standard tablet with other great features? Well, one of the main benefits of a Kindle is its screen, which eschews glass and LCD screens to drastically reduce glare and reflection. In addition to making reading easier, the lack of an LCD screen also means that Kindle e-readers also tend to be much more affordable than most tablets or phones.

If you're an avid reader, then there's one more reason to invest in a Kindle e-reader – the Kindle Unlimited service. Just as Netflix and Disney Plus offer movies and TV shows on demand, Kindle Unlimited enables readers to access over one million titles and thousands of audiobooks.

Take a look through the best Kindle deals we've found below, or discover the difference between Kindle vs Fire if you're looking for an e-reader that can double up as a tablet.

1. Amazon Kindle

Best for buyers on a budget

Screen size: 6-inch | Screen type: Pearl e-paper | Backlight: Yes | Storage: 16GB | Battery life: Up to six weeks

Most affordable Kindle

Includes back-light

Not waterproof

There's simply no denying the ultimate combination of affordability and and ease-of-use that the basic Amazon Kindle provides. Its slim and light design enables you to easily slip it into bags (or even large pockets), which is perfect for commuters that like to get in a bit of reading on the bus or train. The impressive four weeks of battery life means that you're not likely to get caught short when away from your charger either.

As the basic model, you might expect that the standard Kindle is missing more premium features – and you would be correct. There's no metal design, large screen or useful screen features such as warm adjustment, which might put off those looking for a more premium experience.

However, if you're looking for an affordable e-reader and you don't mind missing out on all the bells and whistles of a more premium model, the standard Kindle could be perfect for you.

2. Amazon Kindle Paperwhite

A great mid-range e-reader option

Screen size: 6.8-inch | Screen type: E ink | Backlight: Yes | Storage: 8GB | Battery life: Up to ten weeks

Touchscreen

Fantastic battery life

A little more expensive

While the standard Kindle offers a great e-reader experience, the Kindle Paperwhite adds some useful features that might make it worth the extra money. With the latest version launched in mid-2021, the Kindle Paperwhite is actually the newest e-reader from Amazon. It features a standard USB-C charging port, rather than the micro USB style used in the standard and Oasis models. If your smartphone, laptop or tablet also use USB-C, then this will help keep your charging cables to a minimum.

The main differences between the Paperwhite and the standard Kindle include adjustable warm light, a larger screen-to-body ratio and a 300 pixel-per-inch screen that features an E Ink display. This E Ink technology is designed reduce glare, which should mean that gazing at the screen for hours at a time will be easier on the eyes than if you were using a smartphone or tablet.

The 6.8-inch display provides a similar footprint to an average paperback, while its weight of 205g means that it'll be lighter to hold than many physical books.

What to look for in a Kindle

If you're trying to figure out what the best type of Kindle is for you, then it's worth asking yourself what you want from an e-reader. While the obvious answer is to, well, read, there are other aspects to consider as well. What type of material do you want your e-reader to be made of? Does it need to be robust enough to handle plenty of travel or being dropped by younger readers? Do you want a larger screen for better accessibility? Or do you quite simply want the cheapest possible model that you can get your hands on?

If getting an affordable model is most important to you, then the clear answer is to opt for the standard Kindle. However, it's worth noting that the recent 2022 update to the standard Kindle means that there are currently two types of standard Kindles on the market. While the 2022 update is well worth considering, if you're on a super tight budget then the 2019 Kindle is still a great purchase – just be aware that it might get harder to find as the older model is phased out of production.

Meanwhile, if you're a frequent flyer or a little clumsier than you'd like, it might be worth investing in the Kindle Oasis. While the Oasis is more expensive than its humbler cousins, its actually housed inside a metal body and features an ergonomic ridge that's designed to make it easier to hold. It also features up to six weeks of battery life, a large 7-inch screen with a Carta E Ink display, up to 32GB(!) of storage and 4G connectivity.

Of course, if you'd rather find a good balance between a few extra features and keeping the cost to a minimum, the previously mentioned Kindle Paperwhite is a great alternative.

No matter what type of Kindle you fancy, it's well worth keeping an eye on the latest Kindle deals around shopping events such as Amazon Prime Day and Black Friday. As a major retailer and manufacturer, Amazon often offers some fantastic deals and offers on its own Kindle products.
