Here’s everything you need to know about Amazon Prime Day 2023

If you love to shop, Amazon Prime Day may feel like your Super Bowl. It’s such a good feeling to know you’re getting a great item at a great low price. In some instances, the deals are even bigger and better than they are on Black Friday. But who wants to wait until the holiday season to save anyways? Luckily, Amazon Prime Day 2023 is coming up soon.

When is Amazon Prime Day?

The retailer just announced today that Amazon Prime Day will take place on Tuesday, July 11 and Wednesday, July 12, meaning the “day” of deals will actually last for 48 hours. If you want to get more specific, Prime Day 2023 kicks off at midnight PST on July 11 and ends on July 12 at 11:59 p.m. PST. Just to be safe, you may want to set yourself a reminder or add it to your calendar now.

What is Amazon Prime Day?

If you’re reading this, you probably already know about Amazon’s biggest sale of the year. The online retailer kicked off its very first Prime Day in 2015, and it was, in fact, one day only. However, in recent years, Amazon has extended the sale to two days. Nonetheless, Amazon usually starts marking select items on sale at least a week or two ahead of Prime Day, so there are several days to save.

Do you need to be an Amazon Prime Member to shop?

The short answer is yes; you need to be an Amazon Prime Member to shop. However, if you’re not yet a Prime member, or you haven’t been a member in the last 12 months, and you want to shop the two-day sale, you can sign up for an Amazon Prime Free Trial. When the trial is over, you can cancel, or you’ll be automatically enrolled into the paid membership.

The standard Amazon Prime membership costs $139 per year and offers free two-day shipping, a Prime Video subscription and more. If you’re a student, you can get a discounted rate of $69 per year.

Is there more than one Amazon Prime Day?

Since 2015, Amazon Prime Day has always taken place once a year and usually over the summer. It was delayed until October in 2020. However, last year, Amazon offered an additional Amazon Prime Early Access sale leading up to Black Friday for Prime members. The retailer has not announced its plans for the 2023 holiday shopping season yet, though.

Here are some tips for shopping Amazon Prime Day 2023 to get the best deals:

  1. Cross-check the price at Amazon and other retailers. During Amazon Prime Day 2023, many other retailers like Target and Walmart will run their own competing sales. That means that the retailers will compete to offer the best deals, and as a consumer, you win.

  2. Keep an eye on Amazon’s Lightning Deals. The Lightning Deals usually have a short time frame and a countdown, so you can clearly see how long you have to shop. The deals are usually featured on the front page during Prime Day, so you can’t miss them.

  3. Ask your Amazon Alexa for the best deals. If you have any items saved in your Amazon shopping cart, in a wishlist or subscribe to certain products, Alexa will let you know if the price has been lowered on any of those items.
