It’s that time of year — presents, shopping, packages galore — and no, we aren’t talking about end-of-the-year holiday festivities. Amazon Prime Day 2022 has arrived, and you can expect the savings to be even more major than previous years (you’re welcome, wallet.)

This unofficial shopping holiday began in the early hours of the morning today, so grab your laptop and get ready to stock up on discounted fashion finds, beauty products you’ve been meaning to try out (ahem @ TikTok), and AirPods on sale. Got questions about Prime Day? We’ve got answers!

When is Amazon Prime Day 2022?

Amazon confirmed that Prime Day 2022 will start at 3 AM EDT on July 12th, and will run through July 13th. The 48-hour event will happen all over the world, for Prime members living in Austria, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, Mexico, the Netherlands, Portugal, Singapore, Spain, the U.K., the U.S., Poland, and Sweden. For countries like India, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates, Prime Day will happen later in the summer.

What is Amazon Prime Day?

Think of it like Black Friday in July, just for Amazon (although some of their competitors like Best Buy and Target tend to come out with great sales right around Prime Day as well). So if you’ve been wanting to scratch the shopping itch despite the lack of middle-of-the-summer sales, Prime Day is on the near horizon. The only kicker is that you do have to be a Prime member to get in on all of the money-saving goodness — sign up today!

So how much is Amazon Prime per year?

  • Regular Amazon Prime membership: $14.99/month or $139/year

  • Student Amazon Prime membership: $7.49/month or $69/year (plus a 6-month free trial)

What will be on sale on Prime Day?

Small businesses and major brands alike will be dropping their prices on July 12th and 13th. Everything from smart lightbulbs to Kindles to blowdryer brushers and makeup bags will be on sale. Check your Amazon cart and wishlists to see if any of the items you were debating about have been marked down recently!

Any ~pro tips~ for Amazon Prime Day 2022?

  1. Earn a $10 credit toward Prime Day (or a future Amazon purchase) by completing 4 activities on your Prime Stampcard — stream something on Prime Video, listen to something on Prime Music, borrow a book through Prime Reading or Kindle Unlimited or add one to your library, and buy something eligible for Prime shipping. It's like free money.

  2. Have Alexa notify you about deals — just ask Alexa, “Remind me when Prime Day starts” to get alerted. You can add products to your shopping cart and then have Alexa let you know when the deal goes live.

  3. Set custom deal alerts — you can subscribe to notifications about any of your recent Amazon-viewed items and searches, just in case something you’re interested in ends up going on sale!

Hair Tools

Hot tools like curling wands, straighteners, and irons can get expensive — luckily there are lots of heavily-discounted options available on Amazon right now.

Haircare

Give your strands a little extra lovin' with leave-in conditioners, Kim-K-approved sleek sprays, silk infusion treatments, and Curly Girl Method-approved shower products.

Makeup

In our expert opinion, you can never have enough makeup. Or, if you have too much makeup for your bathroom counter to handle, snag a rotating organizer to keep everything neat and within easy reach.

Skincare

If you're a skincare guru, it might feel like you're always repurchasing the necessities like micellar water and cleansing balms. Stock up on a few while they're on sale if you know you're going to need them throughout the next few months.

Technology

Listen, we know that a tablet or an Apple Watch are both bigger purchases, but if you've been strongly considering getting one, make sure you're getting the best price possible by buying while the product is on sale. We're just saying.

Fashion

Everyone's go-to site for restocking their toilet paper and makeup removing wipes is also an underrated shopping destination for clothing — TikTok is particularly fond of Amazon activewear.
