Amazon Launches Its First-Ever Skin-Care Line Today — and Everything's Under $40
Over the past few years, mega e-retailer Amazon has been slowly dipping its toes into the beauty sphere. (Need proof? See here, here, and here.) But more recently, it's kicked its skin-care game into overdrive. As of today, the retailer has very exciting news: It's launching its own skin-care brand, called Belei.
Belei, a combination of the words "believe" and "beauty," is made up of 12 products — cleansing wipes, moisturizers, masks, and serums — all under $40 and each is designed to treat a variety of skin-care concerns, such as acne, fine lines, dark spots, dehydration, and dullness.
"Our goal is to help customers spend less time and money searching for the right skin-care solutions," said Kara Trousdale, head of beauty for private brands on Amazon.com, said in a press release. "We took a simple, no-nonsense approach when creating Belei, developing products with ingredients that are both proven to deliver results and also offer customers great value for the quality."
For example, for those with acne-prone skin, start with the Charcoal Balancing Mask ($18) to purge pores of dirt, oil, and gunk, and then spot-treat with the Blemish Control Spot Treatment ($22), which is made with five percent benzoyl peroxide. Follow up with a few drops of the Dark Spot Solution ($22) with texture-smoothing niacinamide and the Triple-Peptide Eye Cream ($22). Lastly, seal everything in with the Oil-Free Face Moisturizer with SPF 50 ($22), which is super lightweight and absorbs quickly into skin.
If you have mature skin (or even if you don’t and you’re just looking for a preventive routine), there's the Micellar Facial Cleansing Wipes ($9), which gently remove the most stubborn of waterproof makeup. After cleansing, apply a couple of drops of the brightening Ferulic Acid and Vitamins C and E Serum ($40). Tap on a few pumps of the Retinol Refining Moisturizer ($35) formulated with the vitamin A derivative and soothing squalane, or the Hydrating Hyaluronic Acid Serum ($40), which helps retain moisture in the skin.
For those who have dark spots or looking to brighten up their complexion, Belei launched two vitamin C-spiked products, which are the Vitamin C and HA Serum ($35) and the Vitamin C Moisturizer ($35). There's also the Bio-Complex Moisturizer ($35) included in the collection, which is formulated with a trio of hydrating powerhouse ingredients: hyaluronic acid, squalane, and glycerin.
