Amazon Just Released Echo Buds, Its First Wireless Earbuds

Amazon is about to change the wireless earbuds game.

The retail giant just released its first-ever, Echo-enabled earbuds today. Available for pre-order on Amazon, the Echo Buds provide hands-free access to Alexa, and support access to Siri and Google Assistant as well. Amazon worked with Bose to “incorporate Bose Active Noise Reduction technology” — a.k.a., you’ll get crisp audio with little to no background noise. The buds retail for $130 (which is about $30 cheaper than the list price for the Apple AirPods), and will officially start shipping on October 30.

Amazon announced the earbuds, along with tons of other smart tech launches that are all Echo-enabled (including eyeglasses, a ring, a lamp, and more that you can check out here) at its Amazon Devices and Services event in Seattle today.

“When we set out to build Echo Buds, we looked at what customers would want from earbuds. Excellent sound. To do that, each earbud has two premium, balanced armature drivers, inspired by those used by professional musicians. These deliver crisp, clear vocals, and dynamic bass,” Amazon wrote in a live blog post of the event.

The buds have five hours of battery life, and up to 20 hours of battery life with the charging case. They come with three different-size ear tips for ultimate comfort, can pause your music when removed from your ear, and are sweat-resistant. Plus, they’re built with “multiple layers of privacy protection.” Amazon says “you can mute the mics” in the Echo Buds using the Alexa app: “You also have control over your voice recordings. You can view, hear, or delete them at any time.” Plus, a one-year warranty is automatically included with your purchase.
